Even tasks that would otherwise feel tedious, such as collecting Lums is a joy. While collecting the Lums isn’t necessary to make it through the story, because they’re fun to grab and offer yet another challenge, you’ll find yourself spending a good deal of time getting them. The enjoyment and fun-factor is turned up to max throughout the entire game, and rarely waivers even with difficulty spikes. Some of the game’s boss fights are presented this way, and again, serve as a perfect break to the main progression. Rayman hops on the back of a mosquito to glide through a Gradius-style sidescrolling shooter. More variety is added during the flying stages. But you won’t mind so much, as these levels are a refreshing break from the regular stages. You have to hold right on the analog stick and the run button the entire time, or else you risk missing the timing, and starting all over again. And I’m not kidding when I say full speed, either. In these challenges, Rayman must rush through a level at full speed, hitting every jump, every swing, and dodging every obstacle with swiftness and accuracy. Especially in the treasure chest chase stages, which get so intense my sweaty thumbs would often slip off the analog stick. Most of the difficulty is in timing and speed. And despite looking and starting off simple and childish, Rayman: Origins gets very difficult from the middle to the end of the game. Obstacles are constantly challenging you to use these moves in ways that aren’t always noticeable right off the bat – so there’s a lot of trial and error. As you progress and save Nymphs, Rayman’s arsenal of moves will grow, allowing you to do things like hover or run along walls and ceilings. After a few levels, the difficulty and depth really picks up. Rayman: Origins starts off feeling overly simple, but due to how fun the game is to play, and how pretty the world is, it’s easy to get caught up in it in no time. You probably won’t pay much, if any, attention to the story, and will dive right into the gameplay. It’s up to Rayman, and up to three other players (local play only) to release the Electoons, and restore harmony to the gorgeous Glade. Pissed that her slumber was disturbed, she sends an army of Darktoons to the Glade of Dreams to capture the Electoons and the bodacious Nymphs. Rayman and his pals are snoring so loudly, that it wakes a Skull from the Land of the Livid Dead. But that’s the only similarities you can draw between another iconic platformer. In Rayman’s case, it’s not coins, it’s “Lums” and instead of getting stars, you’re freeing imprisoned “electoons”. The main goal, like all games in the genre, is to make it to the end of each level, all while collecting something along the way. Like many games in 2011, Rayman: Origins has went back to the tried-and-true 2D formula, but is set over a gorgeous 3D background. Staying true to its origins, Rayman is a sidescrolling platformer – something that’s definitely not common anymore. More recently, Rayman’s take a backseat to the Raving Rabbids, but now it’s time for the limb-less hero to take the center stage once again. Sure he was no Mario, but he’s built a decent legacy all on his own. Even then Rayman stood out among the crowd. The original Rayman was born when sidescrolling platformers were a dime-a-dozen. I want to be clear, broken keyboard shortcuts are not a law of nature. In the case of Notion and Google Drive/Docs/Sheets, I was already aware simply because I use these applications myself. Then I googled and found complaints for most of these apps. I used Ke圜ombiner’s shortcut search to find all applications that use the US /-key in their shortcuts. for Google Sheets, Google Drive, and Google Docs.įinding all these applications with broken shortcut handling was very easy. For some reason, Google manages to handle international layouts correctly in Gmail, but fails to do so in any of its other applications. We are at a point where it is easy to find users complaining about this for almost any popular web application.Īn interesting example are Google’s apps. But rest assured, they are not new and I am not the only one who is affected. If you use a US layout, you might be surprised to hear about these problems. Similarly painful is when Electron apps use for navigating backwards and forwards. For example, on my German layout, / is produced via Shift+ 7. Adding modifiers to produce this key with your layout rarely helps. Unfortunately, there is no /-key on most international layouts. A very common shortcut is / for accessing search functionality. This is most annoying when the most important keyboard shortcuts are inaccessible. However, web applications are becoming increasingly complex, and they are rapidly replacing desktop applications, making this problem bigger by the day. The problem I am talking about is so incredibly omnipresent that most international users are just used to the fact that they cannot type a good portion of a given web application’s keyboard shortcuts on their keyboards. So, the arguments in this article probably apply to half of your installed apps as well. However, with the rise of Electron apps, web technologies are ever-present on the desktop as well. The behavior on desktop apps is often different. This is an intense, clever, thoughtful and intellectually challenging JRPG that should remind people that when it comes to this genre, visual presentation and even the gameplay itself aren’t the drawcard. NIST's ytterbium clocks, for example, represent the natural frequency of the atoms (a value known as systematic uncertainty) to within a possible error of just 1.4 parts in 10 18-about one billionth of a billionth. All three types of clocks in the new study offer superlative performance now and promise further improvements. Guidelines for redefinition of the second recommend the demonstration and verification of multiple frequency ratio measurements with uncertainties approaching the best optical clock performance. Frequency ratios overcome this limitation because they are not expressed in any units.įrequency ratios are usually measured over long distances by use of fiber networks, which are few and far between, or in some cases with microwave data transferred over satellite links, which tend to be unstable. A direct measurement of an optical clock frequency in the usual units of Hertz is limited by the accuracy of the current international standard, the cesium microwave clock. Frequency ratios are considered constants and are used in some international standards and tests of fundamental physics theories.įrequency ratios offer an important advantage as a metric for evaluating optical atomic clocks. The results are the three most accurate measurements ever made of natural constants. The NIST team measured frequency ratios, the quantitative relationships between the frequencies of the atoms as measured in three pairs (ytterbium-strontium, ytterbium-aluminum, aluminum-strontium). Frequency is the most accurately measured single quantity in science. The new NIST results reported in Nature also set other important records. Comparisons are crucial to the international community's selection of one or more atoms as the next time standard. The atomic clocks used in the new comparisons tick at much higher optical frequencies, which divide time into smaller units and thus offer greater precision. Since 1967, the second has been defined based on the cesium atom, which ticks at a microwave frequency. The comb-based signal transfer technique had been demonstrated previously but the latest work was the first to compare state-of-the-art atomic clocks. NIST researchers developed two-way transfer methods to precisely compare optical clocks over the air, even in conditions of atmospheric turbulence and laboratory vibrations. The key to the air link was the use of optical frequency combs, which enable accurate comparisons of widely different frequencies. This work shows how the best atomic clocks might be synchronized across remote sites on Earth and, as time signals are transferred over longer distances, even between spacecraft. NIST researchers previously described how they transferred time signals over the air link between two of the clocks, the NIST ytterbium and JILA strontium clocks, and found the process worked as well as the fiber-based method and 1,000 times more precisely than conventional wireless transfer schemes. The team's measurements were so accurate that uncertainties were only 6 to 8 parts in 10 18-that is, errors never exceeded 0.000000000000000008-for both fiber and wireless links. The study compared the aluminum-ion clock and ytterbium lattice clock, located in different laboratories at NIST Boulder, with the strontium lattice clock located 1.5 kilometers away at JILA, a joint institute of NIST and the University of Colorado Boulder. The new measurements were challenging because the three types of atoms involved "tick" at vastly different frequencies, because all the many network components had to operate with extreme accuracy, and because the wireless link required cutting-edge laser technology and design. "These comparisons are really defining the state of the art for both fiber-based and free-space measurements-they are all close to 10 times more accurate than any clock comparisons using different atoms performed so far," NIST physicist David Hume said. These atomic clock comparisons place the scientific community one step closer to meeting the guidelines for redefinition of the second. Described in the March 25 issue of Nature, the NIST-led work is the first to compare three clocks, based on different atoms, and the first to link the most advanced atomic clocks in different locations over the air. There are many locations where you can access the river including at 106 th as well as along River Road north of 116 th. Within Carmel, you can access the west side of the White River. There are also a number of areas outside of Fishers. Outside of FishersĮverything covered to this point have been areas within the City of Fishers where you can fish. There is also kayak and paddle board rentals on this small lake. While there is swimming on one side at the beach, there are walkways and dock areas where you can comfortably fish. Saxony Lake & Beach also allows for fishing. Hamilton Proper Park is located off 116 th Street by Hoosier Road. The pond I easy to access because it is right next to the parking lot. The pond is small enough that it isn’t listed as a feature on the city parks website. This park is primarily soccer and playing fields. Harrison Proper Park is not much of a park (in my opinion), but it too has a small pond. A trail that winds around the pond provides plenty of options for where to cast. It contains an easy to access pond, which is close to the parking lot. You can access the lake from a trail coming from Fishers Pointe to the north or from 106 th Street on the South side.įlat Fork Creek Park is at 101 st Street on the East side of Fishers. The main two city parks that contain fishing lakes are Cheeney Creek Natural Area and Flat Fork Creek park.Ĭheeney Creek contains a small lake with a dock. One benefit of some of these is that it is said they are stocked. While these are not large, they do offer an opportunity to try your luck tossing in a line. Fishing Lakes in Fishersįor many, the easiest and best places to fish within Fishers are some of the fishing lakes. While there are not a lot of good fishing spots, it is possible to fish here, and people do fish at this location. It is also a location for those canoeing from the North to take out their boats. This is an area where people tend to access the river with boats. The second area is the White River landing at 116 th Street. While the bank is relatively high, you can get access to fish. Heritage Park has a paved path that winds down to the river. The first is Heritage Park off 106 th and Eller Road. These are not the best fishing locations in Fishers, but they are options. There are, however, two areas where you can access the river and fish. Like Geist, most of the land in Fishers that borders the White River is private property. On the opposite side of town is the White River. When it is completed, it too will offer direct access to the water, and thus fishing as well. There is a small access ramp in this park that can be used to put a canoe or kayak into Fall Creek as well.įishers has plans for another park directly on Geist Reservoir however, it is still in the early stages of being developed. This Park gives easy access to fishing along the edge of the park and along a path that follows the water edge going towards Geist. There is also a boat ramp that, for a fee, you can launch a boat.įall Creek flows into Geist and can be accessed from Geist Park off Florida Road. There is a marina where you can rent boats. The problem is that nearly the entire shoreline reservoir is private property. The most obvious place to fish would be Geist Reservoir. Fishers has a big reservoir and a major river, but those aren’t the easiest to access for fishing for the average resident, so that begs the question, where then, are the places to fish in Fishers? Before jumping into those places, let’s talk about the two places that seem more obvious. Over the last week more than one person has asked about places to go fishing within Fishers, Indiana. In reality, most radiant barriers by themselves have little to no R-Value. If you need to satisfy a building code of a specified R-Value, we recommend the use of a traditional insulation in conjunction with our radiant barrier in order to meet code. There are some companies out there posting big R-Value numbers for their radiant barriers, but those numbers are rating the entirety of the system-including the product, air gap, and other building materials. Rather than rating by R-value, all radiant barrier products are measured by their reflective and emissive properties. When installed properly with an air gap on one side of the product, double bubble insulation will reflect heat away from your building in the summer, and keep heat in during the winter. R-Value Of Radiant Barriersīecause these two insulation types have different purposes, their effectiveness is measured differently. When used together, these two insulation types can provide a highly effective one-two punch that will keep your building warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. Radiant barrier bubble insulation, on the other hand, reflects heat back to its source (whether that's your furnace or the sun.).The higher the R-value, the thicker the material and the more heat it can absorb. Traditional insulation works to absorb heat and is measured by R-value.Radiant barrier bubble insulation works differently compared to traditional insulation like fiberglass and spray foam. Radiant barrier vs traditional insulation Not only does Double Bubble Insulation reflect radiant heat, when properly installed with tape it also acts as a vapor barrier, preventing the passage of moisture and other unwanted particles which can cause mold. In order to establish a vapor barrier, you must tape all seams and joints to prevent air passage, keeping moisture and other particles from passing through. The double layer of bubbles effectively combats the formation of frost and condensation that can occur when temperature differences are extreme on either side of the material. It's very thin (approximately 1/4"), lightweight, and installs easily with minimal equipment.Ī radiant barrier and vapor barrier, all in one product Double bubble insulation combines the heat-shielding properties of solid radiant barrier with two layers of polyethylene bubbles, which acts as a built-in air gap that reduces contact between temperatures on either side of the product. EcoFoil Double Bubble Foil Insulation is primarily used in pole barns, metal buildings, basement walls, crawl spaces, and storage units located in moderate and colder climates. Regardless, however, I expect your calcium/magnesium hardness is the culprit. Do you see any cloudiness when adding bicarbonate? If you have to frequently add bicarbonate, you may be using to much CO 2. If you experience problems growing certain plants, that may also suggest excessive hardness, since many plants prefer soft to only mildly hard water. You may want to test your water for calcium/magnesium and alkalinity. Even without the addition of Flourish Iron™, do you sometimes see a white (chalky) film on the surface of the water? If so, that would support the presence of high calcium/magnesium. I suspect that your water is exceptionally hard (contains a lot of calcium/magnesium) and that you may also have a high alkalinity (carbonate content), and that the addition of Flourish Iron™ (by an ion competing mechanism) pushes the calcium/magnesium carbonate in the water beyond saturation, resulting in the precipitation of calcium/magnesium carbonates. It is also unlikely to be a direct carbonate precipitate. Since the cloudiness was caused by a white precipitate, as you confirmed by testing, it is not an iron precipitate. Flourish Iron™ does not normally cause cloudiness unless used excessively, and even then the cloudiness is very mild. Sizes: 50 mL, 100 mL, 250 mL, 500 mL, 2 L, 4 LĪ: This is a peculiar response. In addition, ferrous gluconate has the added bonus of being a source of carbon. In fact, ferrous gluconate is better suited to foliar feeding than is iron-EDTA owing to the relatively weaker iron-gluconate bonding vs. Despite what other manufacturers may intimate, gluconate is not harmful to plants or fish. Plants are able to much more easily derive a benefit from Flourish Iron™ because ferrous iron gluconate is already in the ferrous form so they do not expend energy reducing it. Our approach is different in that we use a complex (not chelate) of ferrous iron in Flourish Iron™.įlourish Iron™ is a highly concentrated (10,000 mg/L) ferrous iron gluconate supplement. (1) Iron-EDTA bonding is very strong, thus very little of the iron will be available to the plants over a given time frame and (2) Physiological energy must be expended by the plant in order to extract the ferric iron from EDTA-iron and then convert (reduce) it to the ferrous form. While this does keep it soluble, it has a couple of drawbacks with respect to foliar uptake of iron. To overcome this precipitation, competing products employ a chelate of ferric iron: iron-EDTA. Once this occurs, foliar absorbtion becomes impossible. Ferric iron, however, is only soluble below a pH of around 5.5 but if the pH is higher than 5.5, which more than likely it will be in a planted aquarium, the ferric iron will become insoluble and precipitate, settling in the root zone. Ferrous iron, the preferred iron form and is soluble in water at any pH. The iron will be in one of two oxidation states: ferrous having a +2 charge, or ferric having a +3 charge. When choosing an iron supplement, it is important to know the distinction between the two forms of iron. If the deficiency is severe and prolonged, each new leaf emerges lighter in color than the preceding leaf. Because plants use iron to produce chlorophyll, a lack of iron results in chlorosis, or yellowing, of the younger leaves. Therefore, deficiency symptoms appear first on new or young leaves. This means that plants cannot divert iron from older leaves to new ones. Perhaps it will help if I list what I think I do know concerning DV (and if any of this is wrong, obviously I need straightening out on my “facts” too):ĭV is a consumer format for digital video invented by Sony for consumer products that grew into something so popular (because it worked so well and was so cost effective) that many professionals started using it.ĭV is characterized, so far as its sampling goes as 4:1:1.
